About NCL2012
NCL2012 is the 13th International Conference on Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (Batten Disease). An NCL conference of this type has been held approximately every other year on alternate sides of the Atlantic (see below for list of past conferences). This is the only forum that brings together those with interests in basic science and clinical care for this group of devastating diseases. We are adding a new dimension to the NCL2012 Scientific Conference, with our co-hosts the UK Batten Disease Family Association (BDFA), by bringing together Patient Organisations, professionals and affected families to a parallel two day conference. For the first time at an NCL meeting this will include combined sessions with the scientific conference.
It will also be the first meeting of the newly formed Batten Disease International Alliance (BDIA). The BDIA is a group of Batten Disease Patient Organisations and Research Foundations which are working together to promote awareness, a greater understanding of Batten Disease, research and support for affected families.
Our goal is to provide a conference that will maintain the highest standards of scientific and clinical presentations with a program of oral and poster sessions. We have chosen a conference venue and organised a social program that will bring together the Science Conference, Patient Organisations and the first meeting of the BDIA to maximise the opportunities for interactions between attendees.
